ESAB Tandem Narrow Gap Welding Equipment at Avesta Prefab, Avesta, Sweden
Avesta Prefab is a manufacturer of suction rolls for paper mill machines. The suction rolls are made of stainless steel and are produced in length up to 10 m, diameter up to 2 m and a thickness up to 120 mm. Avesta Prefab is the only producer of rolled and welded suction rolls in the world.
In 1987 Avesta Prefab installed the first Narrow Gap Welding machine from ESAB for circiumferential joining of the suction rollers. Thanks to this investment Avesta Prefab has increased their market shares and in 1999 ordered the second Narrow Gap Welding Equipment.
This Submerged Arc Tandem Narrow Gap Welding equipment is supplied with a newly developped fully computerized control system with responsibility for the complete weld fill operation, inbuilt quality assurance system with detailed weld report and an operatorfriendly MMC.
The deposit rate with tandem welding technique will almost be doubled compared to single wire, from 7 to 14 kg/h.
